2021 Week 3 Power Rankings

Week 3

April 18, 2021

1. Cyclones 2-0 (–)
Previous Rank: 1

The Champs raised another banner this weekend as they hosted the undefeated Savages. Like their Coach Brent Melhorn says, “it was business as usual” as the Cyclones stormed past the Savages 80-6.

Next Game: 4/24 at Mustangs

2. Comanche 2-0 (–)
Previous Rank: 2

The Mountain Champs hosted a struggling Spartans team and took them behind the shed. Not much to say about that game as the Comanche won 82-14.

Next Game: 4/24 at Jaguars

3. Hitmen 3-0 (–)
Previous Rank: 3

The Hitmen continue to prove that their poor play vs the Tomahawks was just a fluke as they whacked the Vikings, 48-14.

Next Game: 4/24 at Maniacs

4. Warriors 2-0 (+1)
Previous Rank: 5

The Warriors offense continues to put points on the board and the defense is swarming. In 2 games Wilkes-Barre has outscored their opponents 113-32.

Next Game: 4/24 at Shock

5. Shock 2-0 (+2)
Previous Rank: 7

Seems like the Shock has found their answer at QB with the return of Cody Lamoreaux from Brazil. After a rough start, he shook the rust off for a big win vs the Nightmare, 52-21.

Next Game: 4/24 vs Warriors

6. Wildcats 3-0 (+3)
Previous Rank: 9

Billtown seemed to have not fully recovered from their close game with the Jags as it was just 6-6 half time but found a way to jump start the offense on their way to a 46-18 win.

Next Game: 4/24 at Tomahawks

7. Tomahawks 1-2 (-3)
Previous Rank: 4

Mifflin County looked like they were hung over from their impressive win over the Moshannon Valley. The Hawks dropped a heart breaker in Johnstown, 47-46.

Next Game: 4/24 vs Wildcats

8. Vikings 1-2 (-2)
Previous Rank: 6

We haven’t seen the Vikings play this poorly to start a season since 2019, 1-2. A lot of questions still need to be asked with this squad.

Next Game: 5/1 at Thunder

9. Savages 1-1 (-1)
Previous Rank: 8

The Savages in the off-season were the highest graded team in the Valley when it came to the Free Agent Frenzy report card.

Next Game: 4/24 vs Nightmare

10. Jaguars 1-1 (+1)
Previous Rank: 1

The Jaguars had a bye this week after their tough home opener loss to the Wildcats. They have another tough game at home this week verse the Tribe.

Next Game: 4/24 vs Comanche

Previous Rank: 14

For the first time in their team’s history the Thunder are winners. The Thunder shocked the GEFA with a win vs the Tomahawks.

Next Game: 4/24 @ Spartans

12. Diamondbacks 1-1 (+3)

The DBacks saw a lot of positives out of the rubble that the Cyclones left a week ago. They regrouped and got their first win of the season.

Next Game: 4/24 @ Rage

13. Nightmare 0-2 (-1)
Previous Rank: 13

Nightmare held a very tough Shock team to just 12 points in the first half. Unfortunately for them, a second half riddled with mistakes tanked them for the second week in a row.

Next Game: 4/24 @ Savages

14. Mustangs 0-2 (-1)
Previous Rank: 13

The Mustangs are slowly pulling it together but just not yet. Hazleton has a blaring need at LB which showed verses the Diamondbacks.

Next Game: 4/24 @ Cyclones

15. Rage 0-2 (-5)
Previous Rank: 10

The Rage traveled light to Wilkes-Barre and couldn’t get anything going verses a very tough Warriors team who held them scoreless until the third quarter.

Next Game: 4/24 vs DBacks

16. Maniacs 0-2 (–)
Previous Rank: 16

If you look close enough, you can always find something to be positive about. In this case the Maniacs held the Wildcats to a 6-6 at half time before the game got out of hand.

Next Game: 4/24 vs Hitmen

17. Spartans 0-3 (–)
Previous Rank: 17

The young Spartans have been outscored 222-26 in their first three games of this GEFA season. If that’s not crazy enough, the way this conference is, they still have a shot at the 4th seed.

Next Game: 4/24 vs Thunder
