Additionally, we have added a third game to the opening day for more action to the madness.  We will once again have a few different food truck vendors on the premises for all games, as well as snacks and other concessions available.  Below are the matchups slated for the day:

2019 GEFA Playoffs – Keystone Bowl XV

2019 GEFA Playoffs

Divisional Round

The 2019 playoffs are officially here and the final stages to Keystone Bowl XV have been set! The GEFA this year introduced conference rankings for the first time, allowing teams to be ranked based off their outcome with inner-conference opponents with the top four from each conference representing the league. This format falls in line with other traditional systems and makes it easier to determine seeding when it comes down to playoffs. Some may think that moving to this format allows teams to “take-off” for out-of-conference games, however, one should not jump to that conclusion considering overall record is taken into affect as one potential tie-breaker should it ever come down to it. Here are your 2019 round 1 playoff matchups:

#4 Monroe County Diamondbacks (5-5) @ #1 Mount Joy Cyclones (10-0)

#3 NEPA Shock (7-3) @ #2 Wilkes-Barre Warriors (8-2)

#4 DuBois Area Mt. Lions (6-4) @ #1 Moshannon Valley Vikings (8-3)

#3 Mifflin County Tomahawks (5-5) @ #2 Upper Dauphin Comanche (8-3)

Good luck to all teams!

GEFA Welcomes Four New Teams!

The Great Eastern Football Association would like to welcome three new teams to the league that were officially voted in during the fall meetings. Here are some additional details that were revealed so far regarding the teams that were voted in:

Monmouth Rage
Location: Tinton Falls, NJ

The Monmouth Rage is the GEFA’s first new team of the 2019 season and they are based out of Monmouth County, New Jersey with the field being in Tinton Falls.  This is the first time the league has expanded out of state and is excited for this new opportunity and the potential for future expansions.

Monroe County Diamondbacks
Location: Stroudsburg, PA

The Monroe County Diamondbacks are a new team from northeastern PA, in Monroe County, with the field being in North Pocono. The Diamondbacks reach into a new area of PA that has not held a team in the GEFA and has potential for a lot of talent and hidden surprises.

Berks County Raptors
Location: Reading, PA

The third new team being added to the 2019 season is out of southeastern PA, in Berks County, with the field being in Reading. Most of this team has history and chemistry from another semi-pro league and we are excited to add the talent and competition the Raptors will be bringing with them to start the 15th season of GEFA.

Capitol City Gorillas
Location: Enola, PA

The last new team to be voted in for the 2019 season are the Capitol City Gorillas with the field being in Enola. The Gorillas are a new team coming from the Harrisburg area, filled with untapped talent and are ready to show the league what they have in store. The GEFA is excited for this addition and for finally being able to get a team from the capitol once more!

More information for each team such as exact field locations, conference placement, schedules, and team biographies will be added to the team pages. Team pages will be added to the website at the beginning of the official new season, January 1, and the league map has been updated to reflect the new teams now.
